NINA is an in-progress documentary about gender-based violence in Bolivia, created my my friend Athena Chu. Here are some paintings/visualizations I worked on for the film.

The World Health Organization reported in 2017 that worldwide 35% of women experience some form of physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime. In Bolivia, that number becomes an overwhelming 90%. From lawyers working with children that are victims of sexual abuse to activists to artists to anthropologists, this film brings together the perspectives and life’s work of multiple people all focused on the same subject but on different fronts.

In Athena's words: “Told from the perspective of survivors, this film details their experiences seeking justice within a broken system, how they grew up within a cycle of violence, and their fight to end it. NINA is first and foremost for them.”
