Picturing Home: Housing as Harm Reduction Zine

What does home mean? What has it meant in the past, and what could it mean in the future? Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts to stay safe and healthy have called on people to stay home. But what about people without a home, in congregate homes, in prison or other carceral settings?

Picturing Home: Housing as Harm Reduction spotlights the lived experiences of 4 individuals—Rashidah Abdul-Khabeer, an anonymous Camp Teddy Resident, Salahudin, and Moses Santana—as they navigate and/or witness the need for secure housing in Philadelphia. Interviews and somatic exercises bring together topics about home, health, and agency through the lens of harm reduction.

Shown above are a few select spreads of the 80-page zine. Picturing Home is a project initiated through the Creative Resilience Collective in Philadelphia. As always, there’s more work to be done—if you wish to take part, please reach out to info@creativeresco.org.
